Perinatal Mental Health
Becoming a mom is what inspired me to become a certified Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner (PMH-C) and I am proud to dedicate part of my practice to clients who are trying to conceive, are pregnant, postpartum and/or in the throes of parenting. My goal is to create a welcoming and non-judgmental space for anyone who has struggled with these life experiences.
Maternal mental health is an area that is often overlooked or minimized in the healthcare system. I believe in helping women process their experience, learn how to self-advocate for improved care, and resist old fashioned ideas of what it means to be a 'good mother'.
Clients who reach out to me for help often report shifts in their identity that feel unexpected or difficult. They are noticing changes in mood, intense and sometimes scary thoughts, and might be feeling isolated in their experience. Many clients are wondering how to create and maintain healthy relationships with their partners and loved ones. They may also believe they are 100% responsible for their child(ren)'s health and wellbeing, causing deep feelings of worry and overwhelm.
Some examples of what I can help with include:

Mental health concerns during the perinatal period can be hard to recognize due to the many stressors and changes that are all happening at once. If you are finding it hard to cope for any reason, there is help.
